If I may be frank with you – and perhaps I must be honest with you, considering you’re a subscriber to the website – I would like to emphasize one thing: Don’t put your life into art.

The principle that governs the world of the liberal arts is not democracy but aristocracy. Given your financial situation and academic background, all you need is a miracle to start and sustain a study of art.

While I’m flattered that you appreciate my writing, the purpose behind it is not to lead readers into professions in art or philosophy.

The profession should be to make money. Financial independence is the most urgent priority for you now. I understand your fascination with art – how could I not? I’ve written over 100 posts on the subject – but it’s possible that the devil has crept into your mind, posing a real danger to your life through your love of art.

Have you ever considered that art and philosophy might seem superior to other aspects of life, such as finance or cooking? I bet you have. I bet the devil comes into your mind and blows hubris into your soul. You should tell the devil to fuck off.

Remember this: All propositions are equal, as Wittgenstein said. Most losers who are obsessed with art and philosophy, however, excuse their failures by claiming they are doing more important and critical work, even if they don’t get paid as much as others who get regular jobs. Art and philosophy can sometimes be wasted as a shield for inexcusable failure. Don’t let this happen to you. Fuck the devil.

Yet, men are weak. Men cannot see themselves as they are, especially in poverty. Hence, I cannot rule out the possibility that the devil will dominate your mind and turn you into someone who is unconsciously jealous and eventually socially maladjusted.

Art and philosophy are spectacular but unspeakably dangerous. Enjoy them as hobbies, not yet as careers. Prioritize independence. Live artistically and philosophically, don’t be pretentious about art and philosophy.
